Monthly Archives: July 2011

my favorite

It’s Friday already – the week passed so quickly! I got about 3 things crossed off my to-do list this week which is pretty pathetic, but I’m giving myself a free pass since (1) I’m my own boss, (2) I was sick and (3) I made a lot of progress in re-watching my favorite TV show Arrested Development. It’s my third time watching it, and I swear it gets better every time. But I digress.

I was planning a huge online shop update for this week, but managed only to get a few new-old products up. Oops. One of them, however, currently has the top spot in my heart.

It’s so sweet, it gives me cavities.

In other news, I’ll be shopping at Renegade Craft this weekend to see what’s new, and also to feel cool and hip and young and stuff. These things are always so overwhelming, but if there are any booths in particular you think I should check out, let me know. Have a great weekend!

summer news

My productivity has been felled by a head cold this week, but I did manage to send out the Pot + Pantry summer newsletter to my email subscribers yesterday (yea!). In case you missed it, here’s the most exciting tidbit:

FARMcurious Pop-Up Shop Kickoff Party

Sunday, July 24th 11 am – 2 pm

I’m happy to announce that Pot + Pantry will be hosting a pop-up shop for FARMcurious! The pop-up shop will run from Saturday, July 23rd, through Sunday, August 7th, and we’ll be having a big party at the shop on Sunday, July 24th, from 11am to 2pm to kick it off! (I must find more places to insert exclamation points to convey my excitement!!)

If you’re not familiar with FARMcurious, it’s the brainchild of Oakland-based urban farmer Nicole Kramer. FARMcurious’ mission is to educate, inspire and equip city dwellers interested in producing their own food seasonally and sustainably without having to completely abandon their urban lifestyles. In addition to offering urban homesteading classes and DIY food demonstrations, FARMcurious also provides products and kits to make your own cheese, yogurt, beer, vinegar, preserves…(you get the idea). Great stuff for people seeking to reconnect with their food.

As part of our kickoff party on July 24th, Nicole will demonstrate how to make your own cheese at home, and we’ll also have some awesome guests to help us celebrate.Sean Timberlake of Punk Domestics will teach you how to make cocktail infusions and Dandelion Chocolate will conduct tastings of their bean-to-bar chocolate. The Grilled Cheese Guy will also be there serving up sandwiches for hungry folks. And, of course, there will be a giveaway for attendees to win some awesome products!

We’ll have a more formal event schedule posted on the Pot + Pantry blog in the coming weeks, so check in for updates. Looking forward to seeing you guys at the party!

happy friday (or, happy 4th of july!)

I’m working on some exciting things which I’ll share next week. In the meantime, it’s July 4th weekend! I’m really looking forward to the sunny hot weather we’re supposed to have in SF over the next few days. It’s the perfect excuse to indulge in ice cream and barbecue and PIE, glorious pie (bikini season, schmikini season)! Have you guys heard of the Pie Party happening on July 5 via Twitter and Facebook? I’m more of a free form galette girl myself (I like Smitten Kitchen’s crust recipe and Gourmet’s blueberry filling recipe), but it’s still in the pie realm so I think it counts.

Check out that milk bottle, hubba hubba. Image from The Style Files.

And since Friday isn’t Friday without some silliness, I have to post the MTV Hip Hop Food Pyramid. I love all kinds of music, but I do have a soft spot for this genre. Make sure you have a balanced intake!

I will take a second helping of Yeastie Boys, please.

Have a happy, safe weekend!
